Richmond’s municipal election is officially less than five months away and Richmond Citizens’ Association has now announced its slate.

Running alongside incumbent Coun. Harold Steves and hoping for their own seat on council is Jack Trovato, Kelly Greene and Judie Schneider, the association announced at a public event on Wednesday.

“They’re all really good, outstanding candidates,” Colleen Glynn, president of RCA told the Richmond News. “They’re all pretty active in the community. They’ve done a lot of work around the housing on farmland issue and the hospital, education, all sorts of things.”

Schneider, Greene and Trovato have all spoken at council meetings against mega homes on agricultural land and the three petitioned on behalf of the RCA for a new hospital tower earlier this year.

At age 80, Coun. Harold Steves, a retired teacher, is back on the ballot to continue his stated quests to protect farmland and ensure development is sustainable, with city-backed projects such as geothermal district energy.

According to Glynn, the association as a whole is looking for a change in how council interacts with the people of Richmond.

“We’re looking for a more transparent and open city government that's more accessible to the public and listening to what citizens actually want,” Glynn said.

“I think it’ll be a really interesting campaign.”

Richmond’s municipal election is on Oct. 20.
