Former TV reporter Jas Johal aims to personally connect with voters in new riding

Chak Au has been working for the Richmond community since he immigrated to Canada in 1988. He currently serves the City of Richmond as a councillor. Prior to his election, he served Richmond as a school trustee for 12 years.

John Yap was born into a close-knit family. His mom was a homemaker and his dad was a doctor. When he was 16, Yap’s emigrated from Singapore to Burnaby. He attended community college, then university, and graduated with a MBA from UBC.

Michael was born and raised in East Richmond. At 35-years-old, he is the fourth generation of his family to live, work, and play in the community.

Aman Singh was born in India, raised in Hong Kong and educated at University of California ­— Berkeley and at the University of Victoria. He has a deep understanding of the diversity, issues and needs of people in Richmond-Queensborough.

Kay Hale has lived in Richmond for more than 30 years. She grew up in Hong Kong in humble surroundings. Her father was a British military officer who served in the Second World War.

Jas Johal was most recently the director of communications at the BC LNG Alliance. Formed in 2014, the alliance is the voice of British Columbia›s liquefied natural gas export industry.

Roy Sakata was born in 1942 in Bridge River, B.C. in a Second World War Canadian Japanese internment camp. He is a retired school administrator in the Richmond School District and at the Gitsegukla Gitskan First Nation Elementary School.
