Richmondite capture Christmas lights to make the holiday season more festive

One Richmondite spent the holiday season taking dozens of photos of light displays across the city to invoke the Christmas spirit and bring in the festive cheer.

One Richmondite was working hard over the holidays to make the season merrier by taking and sharing photos of light displays across the city.

Dozens of photos featuring dazzling Christmas lights and festive decorations in different Richmond neighbourhoods were posted on the Community of Richmond Facebook group over the holiday season.

Richmondite Winston Sayson told the Richmond News he took the photos to share with his fellow residents who might not be able to get out to experience these “uplifting community celebrations of Christmas” in the pandemic.

It took Sayson four nights to capture light installations in Richmond.

“It took me one night each to take photos at McArthur Glen, city hall plaza, and two evenings for Steveston Village,” said Sayson, adding he enjoyed the process.

“I have been living in Richmond for more than 40 years and I feel proud of our lovely city,” said Sayson, a retired Crown Counsel.

The photos got hundreds of clicks within a few days, with many people commenting on how they appreciated his efforts.
