A second COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a long-term care facility in Richmond.

An outbreak was declared at the 3 West unit at the Minoru Residence – at 7333 Gollner Ave. near Minoru Boulevard and Westminster Highway – on Sunday, Dec. 27, Vancouver Coastal Health confirmed to the Richmond News.

The News has asked the health authority if staff or residents tested positive in the outbreak.

Last week, an outbreak was declared at the 1 East unit of the care home. Outbreak restrictions to contain the virus were put in place in that unit on Dec. 21.

VCH said that after an outbreak is declared, positive cases are isolated and all staff and residents tested and monitored. Infection, prevention and control practices are carried out and the health authority directly communicates with the families of those affected.
