A group of Richmond students hosted TEDxYouth@Steveston recently with an array of inspirational youth and adult speakers taking to the stage.

The event, run by Richmond Secondary teenagers and held at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, attracted around 100 people, including the MP for Steveston-Richmond East, Joe Peschisolido.

The goal, said co-organizer Lucas Xie, was to “promote Richmond culture and youth, while trying to bring a sense of community.”

As well as the speakers, there was a performance from the Kun Opera, a lost art that once prospered in China in the 1300s.

According to Xie, a group of students from Steveston-London secondary is already committed to taking the baton next year.
