Want to know more about Richmond’s history and the salty and colourful past of Steveston Village?

The brand new Steveston Heritage Experience Tour offers an opportunity.

The four-hour guided walking tour will take people to various historic attractions in Steveston and serve selected local food and beverage tastings.

Along the way, people will hear "eye-opening" tales of yesteryear village life, as told by "a chatty fisherman who seems to have just stepped from the streets of 1914,” according to Tourisim Richmond.

“It’s the perfect way to travel back in time while keeping your taste buds fully entertained.”

The Steveston Heritage Experience attractions include The Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, Steveston Interurban Tram, Steveston Museum and Gulf of Georgia National Historic Site.

The tour is produced in partnership by these four groups, who received a $20,000 grant from Tourism Richmond towards developing the experience.

The first tour will run from 12 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 6. It will then run once a month from April to September in 2019. Tickets cost $80 plus tax and reservation is recommended.

The Richmond News will join an exclusive preview of the tour on Saturday.
