A long-time Richmond pub has said its final goodbye after operating for the past 44 years.

Kingswood Pub, located at 9375 No. 5 Road, announced its closure on their social media platforms on Sunday.

According to the post, the pub is “truly sad” to be unable to welcome back their customers again.

“The struggle was always challenging, and these times have just made it harder to keep afloat, we hope you understand,” said Kingswood Pub.

“We sincerely appreciate your loyalty and your friendships over the years. Thank you.”

Kingswood Pub was temporarily closed earlier this year in March due to COVID-19 and had re-opened in May during loosening pandemic restrictions.

On social media there have been several locals and customers commenting their thoughts of the pub.

While some reminisced on the memory of meeting their partners and the “down to earth” staff and patrons at Kingswood, others have also noted the business was “struggling” with only a couple staff members keeping it afloat.
