Richmond’s Community Mental Wellness Association of Canada (CMWAC) is hosting a new weekly mental wellness support program for community members starting Wednesday.

The Heart to Heart program, also called “a psychological first aid station”, aims to provide a safe space for people who have questions and concerns on mental health.

Ahlay Chin, founder of CMWAC, said Heart to Heart hopes to reduce social stigma around mental illnesses and to give “culturally and language appropriate” counselling and support.

The program, said Chin, will have a team of professionals including counsellors, psychologists, doctors and psychiatrist to offer help and answer questions.

Each session will focus on a different mental health topic with the first session focusing on depression.

Sessions are offered in English and Mandarin on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom.

English sessions:

  • Oct. 14, 28
  • Nov. 11, 25
  • Dec. 9, 23

Mandarin sessions:

  • Oct. 21
  • Nov. 4, 18
  • Dec. 2, 16, 30
