The Richmond Public Library (RPL) has launched a portable charger feature for customers to use when they visit the Brighouse branch.

RPL is partnering with Power Buddy, a portable charger (power bank) sharing platform, to give visitors a way to charge their phones and leave the library without depending on a wall outlet.

For RPL customers, the charger is free during the first 60-minutes followed by a fee of $1 per hour afterwards.

The chargers can be rented through a phone app, which will require users to create an account with Power Buddy and to provide a credit card.

They are to be picked up at a kiosk at the Brighouse Branch and can be dropped off at other kiosks located in Richmond, which can be found on a map in the app.

The app can be downloaded at getpowerbuddy.com/app
