A Richmond logistics company has offered to match every dollar donated to Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), a local charity, to help seniors get through COVID-19.

Coast2000, a subsidiary company of Western Stevedoring, is matching every dollar donated to RCRG, up to a total of $5,000, as part of their Tackling COVID-19 Together campaign.

The donations aim to help seniors stay safe and socially connected through services like grocery delivery and virtual visiting as part of the campaign.

“As a long-time Richmond business that continues to operate as an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic, we truly wanted to support those in our local community who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19,” said Matthew May, president of Coast2000.

Meanwhile, RCRG’s volunteers have delivered over 701 grocery orders for Richmond seniors between March 31 and May 7.

“We’ve seen a significant and sustained increase in demand,” said Ed Gavsie, president and CEO of RCRG.

“We’re able to meet the need because caring companies like Coast2000 have so generously offered their support.”
