Richmond is home to various habitats and wildlife and is often appreciated by residents and community members.

This year, the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) is encouraging Canadians to join their “be on with nature challenge,” while practicing physical distancing during COVID-19.

CWF is featuring a different theme and actions people can take to “be one with nature” and is encouraging everyone to join in on their contest for a chance to win prizes while learning ways to benefit the wildlife.

The week of April 10 was deemed National Wildlife Week by the Canadian Parliament in 1947 to commemorate the birthday of the Jack Miner – a Canadian conservationist.

Miner was one of the first conservationists who determined the migration paths of North American birds and prevented the extinction of the Canada Goose, according to the CWF website.
