With a new album coming out in September, multiple music videos on the go and several upcoming shows, it’s a whirlwind season for Toronto-bred, reggae-inspired Magic!

But one concert lead vocalist Nasri Atweh is looking forward to is Magic!’s headlining gig at the Richmond World Festival on Sept. 1.

“We’re just looking forward to seeing everybody. The Magic! shows are very unique, there’s not a lot of bands that do this sound,” Atweh told the Richmond News. “We really want everybody to come and experience this because we feel…there’s a loving energy to our shows.”

The band, which released its first single “Rude” in 2013, has been working on its latest album, “Expectations,” set to be released on Sept. 7.

For Atweh, this upcoming album has been a new artistic venture.

“This album really has a focus…it’s really kind of all about one relationship, my relationship, it’s talking about all the sides to it,” he said.

“It’s kind of a concept album, which is something that I never thought I’d make.”

Magic! is scheduled to perform on Sept. 1 at 8:45 p.m. on the festival’s main stage.

The Richmond World Festival takes place from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1. The free festival will present an array of music, arts, food and culture from around the globe.

“There’s going to be some good times, new songs, old songs from all three albums,” Atweh said. “We’re just going to rock it.”
