Svejkovsky leads Giants to win in Seattle

Point Roberts native scores twice as Vancouver takes over top spot in the Western Conference

With two games remaining in their 2018-19 regular season, the Vancouver Giants now sit alone atop the Western Conference standings after a 5-1 road win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday night. 

Lukas Svejkovsky scored twice to lead the way. The 17-year-old from Point Roberts and Seafair product now has 26 points, including nine goals, in his Western Hockey League rookie season.

Justin Sourdif, Alex Kannok Leipert and Dylan Plouffe had the Vancouver goals. Between the pipes David Tendeck made 38 saves for Vancouver.

Greater Vancouver Canadians alumni Henry Rybinski had the Seattle goal. 

The Giants improved their road record to 22-9-1-1. They can lock-up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference by sweeping a home-and-home series with the Kelowna Rockets, starting on Friday (7:30 p.m.) at the Langley Events Centre on Fan Appreciation Night.
