Tired of ordering the same old pizza?
Well, for what’s new in pizza, Round Table Pizza, located across from Liquor Town at Blundell Centre, has added three South Asian-style selections to its already extensive menu.
Jack Chahal, owner of the restaurant since it opened in the mall in 2012, says the trio of shahi paneer, butter chicken and tandoori chicken pizzas offer a special alternative when you’re feeling adventurous and want a pizza with a difference.
“Those are all Indian-inspired pizzas and have proven to be very popular,” says Chahal, adding he tapped into his own ethnic tradition to provide the authentic recipe for the pizzas.
The shahi pizza features butter sauce, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and shahi paneer - a special Indian cheese.
“It’s full of wonderful flavours, and a good option for those who are vegetarians,” Chahal says.
For another authentic South Asian taste, the butter chicken pizza combines onions, green peppers, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and marinated butter chicken.
“Everyone knows butter chicken for its special taste. We just decided to put it on a pizza, which has become a hit with customers,” Chahal says.
And the tandoori chicken pizza packs the time-honoured taste of a clay oven-roasted chicken … on a pizza.
“These pizzas are taken from three, already very popular Indian dishes,” Chahal says. “Putting them on a pizza is unique. And people love it.
“They are a great compliment to our popular, regular pizzas, including everything, which is just like it sounds with salami, pepperoni, ham, beef, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, pineapple, tomatoes and cheese,” Chahal says.
Other classic favourites include the Hawaiian special with ham, cheese and pineapple, and the meat lovers with pepperoni, salami, ham, Italian sausage, beef and cheese.
And with a variety of crusts to choose from - regular, thin, low-carb cauliflower, plus two types of gluten-free options - you can strike the combination that’s tailored specifically for you.
Pizza isn’t the whole story at Round Table Pizza.
The menu also includes baked lasagna and spaghetti, both with meat sauce and a side of garlic bread.
Plus, you can add some chicken wings to your meal with breaded hot wings, honey garlic, barbecue, buffalo, and salt and pepper to choose from.
“We can provide a complete, wonderful meal for you and your family, or friends, with plenty of variety that is sure to please everyone,” Chahal says.
Right now, Round Table Pizza is open just for pick-up or delivery.
“Hopefully, when the COVID-19 pandemic is over we can welcome customers back into our restaurant,” Chahal says.
