There have been plenty of reasons to feel anxious and even lose sleep over the past few months due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But Medussa Home Bedding at Blundell Centre has re-opened for business. The store can help customers get back some relaxation and quality sleep time thanks to their unique selection of premium home decor that can provide a serene and restful retreat.

Owners Pat and Beth Cao took some time away from their family-run store in mid-March and resumed operations in late May, incorporating the required health measures - providing hand sanitizers, enforcing social distancing, limiting the number of people in the store, and mandatory mask-wearing for staff - to help make customers feel comfortable when they visit.

“The good thing is that we are a little store, with not too many rooms for large groups of people,” Pat says. “So, we are limiting access to one or two families, maximum, for the most of the time.”

To help serve customers during the closure, Medussa continued to offer online purchases, curbside pick-up, and substantially lowered their purchase minimum to qualify for free shipping from $150 to $75.

“We have also been the supplier of Wayfair.ca for years. You can find most of our products on there, too,” Pat says.

Medussa prides itself in being a one-stop bedding shop for premium and designer-oriented products, including duvet covers, sheets, duvets, pillows, quilts, towels, and other bedding accessories, all at affordable prices.

“Medussa is like a fusion of styles; you can find both Western and Asian featured bedding here,” Pat explains. “You can find typical sheet sets in all kinds of material like linen, cotton, bamboo, etc. But you can also find the most authentic mulberry silk duvet from Asia, with ample choices of neutral, solid and modern designs, as well as floral eastern style designs.”

The store’s intention from the beginning was to provide unique products not available in the larger chain bedding stores.

“My wife and I also listen carefully to what people need and are asking for so we can lead them to the products most suitable for them,” Pat says. “We truly want to help customers buy what they really need. That’s probably the most unique thing about what we do.”
