When you go shopping for your favourite alcoholic beverages, what makes you gravitate to a specific store?

Often, it comes down to three factors - convenience, selection, and price.

Since it opened in 2006, Liquor Town at Blundell Centre, has all three covered.

Liquor Town is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. With longer hours than most government stores, shopping is an easy drop-in while you’re out running errands.  And, with the winter holiday season just around the corner, Liquor Town makes it quick and easy to stock up for your next big gathering.

Store staff is available to provide suggestions on wine, beer, and other spirit choices, whether it be for simple at-home gatherings, a personal gift to a special friend, or a thank-you to your doctor. They are also on hand and happy to assist customers with items to their car, if needed.

When you arrive at Liquor Town, you will be pleased with the variety of local products on the shelves and in the coolers.

“While we are not as big as some of the larger government-run liquor stores, we pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of locally made products,” says Louise Williams, store manager at Liquor Town. “And that includes the great craft breweries around Richmond, Ladner and Tsawwassen, rather than branching out to those from other provinces.”

Among those locally-made products are Britannia Brewing (Richmond), Barnside Brewing (Ladner), Four Winds (South Delta), 33 Acres (Vancouver) and Parallel 49 (East Vancouver).

There are also selections from popular craft breweries located on Vancouver Island, such as Driftwood Brewery and Phillips Brewing & Malting Co.

“While those craft producers may all have their own tasting rooms, it’s not always convenient for people to visit, so we stock those products here for customers to try and enjoy,” Williams says, adding Liquor Town is always responsive to what customers want and can alter stock depending on demand.

“We are always listening to our customers and their suggestions,” Williams says. “And because we deal with so many local producers, we can quickly, and easily, shift around our selections.”

When it comes to price, Liquor Town is also on the mark.

“Our prices are competitive with other liquor stores. Look for in-store “Every Day Low Prices”, Senior’s Day (55+ years) discounts every Tuesday and the Christmas Flyer in early December.”
