Richmond trucking company’s growth and success built on performance, reputation and referrals

Sandhar Trucking expanding staffing and vehicle fleet to meet customer demands

When it comes to the success of Vancouver trucking companies, growing your business is based very much on performance, leading to good word of mouth.

In short, for trucking companies in B.C., reputation is key.

The track record of a family-owned Sandhar Trucking, a trucking company in B.C. with more than 30 years of experience, has allowed it to expand its trucking services in Vancouver and B.C. These include LTL (Less than Truckload), FTL (Full Truck Load), container drayage (the transport of freight from an ocean port to a destination), flat-deck transport and warehousing.

And that has driven the company to new heights, expanding its fleet of vehicles, adding more staff, and a new much larger office headquarters to house them.

“We required more office space to keep up with the number of staff we need,” says manager Aaron Sandhar, adding the move made last September nearly doubled its office operation to 9,000-square-feet.

Currently, they are looking for more, hard-working and talented employees to fill the anticipated, new jobs as Sandhar Trucking continues to grow.

And with that growth comes continued referrals from satisfied customers, which is valuable feedback.

“We like that because it gives us a connection between us, the client who referred them and the new customer. Referrals provide us with a more solid relationship. It’s the way we’ve grown organically since we started,” Sandhar adds. “But it’s really picked up in the last five years.”

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, customer demand rose significantly when the business picked up pace, presenting the need for additional rolling stock to meet demands and service levels.

Recently, the company acquired 10 new trucks and 20 combo chassis’, which has allowed them to significantly increase their operational capacity.

“In total, our new investment in is the millions of dollars in trucks and trailers, and is the right thing for us to meet the expected demand,” Sandhar says.

“It will put us in a good position in 2023.”

In combination with that, the influx of additional staff filling positions across a variety of departments — from sales to logistics — will help clients as Sandhar Trucking has the unique ability to handle shipments all the way through the transportation cycle.

“We are one of the rare companies that can provide that level of service in-house,” Sandhar says. “Sometimes, clients are having to deal with as many as four separate companies to get their shipment delivered. We can do it all for them.”

In addition, they also offer warehousing services in Vancouver.
