Camryn Rogers is congratulated by Cal Berkeley throws coach Mohamad Saatara after her victory in the hammer throw at the NCAA West Preliminaries on Thursday in Sacramento.

Camryn Rogers has qualified for her first NCAA Track and Field Championships.

The Richmond hammer throw standout continued her impressive form of late by capturing Thursday’s NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento.

The Cal-Berkeley sophomore’s winning throw of 67.22 metres was well over two metres better than Minnesota senior Temi Ogunrinde. The event attracted 46 entries and offer 12 spots to the nationals, slated for next week in Austin, Texas.

Last year, the McMath graduate Kajaks Track and Field member came one spot short of going to nationals. This time there was no doubt as Rogers picked up where she left off at last week’s Pac 12 Championships where she earned conference honours in decisive fashion by breaking the school and her own personal record on three separate occasions.

The NCAA Championships will take place at Meyers Stadium at the University of Texas. The women’s hammer throw is scheduled for Thursday, June 6.
