Tina Jiang’s outstanding 2018 season has earned her U15 Girls Player of the Year honours on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour.

Richmond’s Tina Jiang’s outstanding 2018 season has earned her U15 Girls Player of the Year honours on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour.

The 13-year-old Pacific Golf Academy student was honoured based on her scoring average this season at MLJGT events. Jiang’s average round of 73.67 gave her a comfortable advantage in the final national rankings that included golfers from three other provinces. The honour comes with a $1500 prize voucher to assist with attending the MJT Boston Pizza National Tour Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf at The Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, Nov. 9-11.

Season highlights for Jiang included a second place finish with rounds of 74-74-73 at the 13th annual MLJT Odlum Brown Classic of B.C. Junior Championship back in August at Northview.

Jiang also tied for 13th at the B.C. Women’s Amateur in Golden at for 47th at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship at Beach Grove in Tsawwassen with plenty more years of eligibility remaining.

Many MJT players also qualified to attend prestigious tournaments in Canada, the USA and abroad, including the Nordic Junior Team Matches, the JNJG International Junior Classic, the International Junior Masters, MJT National Team Challenge presented by Freedom 55 Financial, MJT International Players Championship presented by Miura Golf, IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships and the US Kids and Teen World, British and Australian Championships. 

Expenses of attending some of these events were subsidized where possible, together with the help of MJT Official International Events Partner, TuGo.
