Impressive medal haul for Richmond athletes at B.C. Winter Games

Gymnast Russell Woodward brings home seven medals while karate standout Vikrant Anandkumar wins three gold

It was an outstanding showing by Richmond athletes at last weekend's B.C. Winter Games in Kamloops.

The biennial event brought together over 1,500 athletes from across the province to compete in 19 different sports. Richmond is part of the Vancouver-Coastal Zone that also features athletes from Delta, Vancouver, North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Squamish and Whistler.

Highlights included Russell Woodward returning home with seven medals in gymnastics. Vikrant Anandkumar was a standout on the karate mats with three golds. Speed skater Lan-Vi Nguyen won four medals.

Team event highlights included the all-Richmond rink of Noah Argao, Jack Bradley, Michael Nunn and Johnson Tao capturing silver in boys curling.
