The U16B Richmond Islanders are saving their best for last as they wind down the girls softball season — earning a silver medal in the Silver Division at the Lower Mainland Cup.
It was the Islanders’ first medal of the 2019 campaign as they have improved with each tournament while battling injuries to their pitching staff.
Richmond fell to a strong Mission Mayhem team in the championship game.
The girls will now close out their season at next week’s Canada Cup where their division will include 20 international and local teams.
The 2004B Islanders include: Stella Chang, Tamara Dee, Abby Dela Cruz, Savanna Horbachewsky, Jennifer Irwin, Jamie Jung, Sara Karunaratne, Jessica Kim, Kaylen Mullin, Tia Nevins, Taylor Wigley, Alyssa Yam.
They are coached by Denny Irwin, David Yam and Julie Nevins.
