The Richmond News is hosting an “All-candidates Debate” on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gt.

A close to full turn out of 31 city council and three mayoral candidates are expected to attend the event, with a slightly different format planned to the usual all-candidates meetings.

In lieu of introductions from all the candidates, the News has asked each of them 20 yes or no questions pertaining to issues that matter most to the people of Richmond.

They will be asked to vote “yes” by showing a green card or “no” with a red card to each question.

Following that, they will be given a two-minute slot to expand on or explain some of their answers.

When everyone has been afforded that opportunity, the event will move to a townhall-style format, with questions being taken from the audience and directed to a specific candidate.

Other candidates will be allowed to respond, as well, if they wish.

All members of the public are welcome to attend. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event is scheduled to last until around 9 p.m.
