Michael Cober has made Richmond his home for over 20 years, His wife is a public high school English teacher in Richmond and their son, a grade 5 student. Mike graduated from Richmond’s Kwantlen University with a Diploma in Graphic Design.

Michael Cober has made Richmond his home for over 20 years, His wife is a public high school English teacher in Richmond and their son, a grade 5 student.

Mike graduated from Richmond’s Kwantlen University with a Diploma in Graphic Design. During these years, Mike coached Senior Boys volleyball at Burnett and later at Richmond High when they became Richmond's first boys volleyball team to qualify for Provincial Championships.

Mike believes education fuels our economy, enriches our culture, and elevates our collective well being. It is, therefore, a core obligation to responsibly and progressively care for and fund public education. Proper stewardship of our educational system ensures opportunity for all students to reach their potential, and to be prepared to face the challenges of our changing world. Our attention, advocacy and responsible administration of our schools is essential to a healthy community; Mike is deeply committed to affecting positive change.

Objectives:

- Facilitating responsible leadership that supports progressive educational development

- Building positive open relationships between educators, students and parents

- Encouraging sustainable practices and ongoing education regarding global stewardship

- Supporting understanding and awareness of our cultural diversity

- Advocating for critical thinking in all aspects of our education system

- Promoting a fiscally responsible appropriately funded educational system
