Richmond is young and with huge potentials. People of Richmond have done great jobs for decades. When we celebrate our achievements, we also need to face some irritating problems that prevent it from becoming the most liveable city we desired.
A year ago, this city was upset by numerous car and house break-ins. I investigated and discovered the thief has left a handful of evidence behind. As I don’t have the authority to conduct any further investigation, I forwarded all photos, videos and the burglar’s car plate number to the police. All I get is a file number. Today, the bandit is still at large.
A saying, if disorder in general is being tolerated, as a result, more serious crimes will end up being committed.
Avoid encountering tough problems are understandable for average people but for the people with courage and good faith, it is unacceptable. I am going to challenge them.
My Liveable Modern Richmond Initiative includes an enhanced block-watch program, by sharing suspects’ photos to increase neighbourhood awareness. Other financially self-sufficient programs would also be rolled out to address needs for wealth and employment, physical and mental health, recreation and leisure, education and social belonging.
