More evidence that punishment for RCMP is skewed in their favour. What makes this person different from anyone else facing the same charges?

How insulting to reference his aboriginal background being a consideration in sentencing. That certainly doesn't give him any special status.

That did not help Frank Paul a few years ago when police dropped him off in an alley to die, nor did it help an aboriginal man in Alberta who was dropped off in a field in below zero temperatures by police.

Aboriginal people, like it or not, are often the target of RCMP and now all of a sudden Monty wants to be considered as one to affect his sentence.

Talk about propagating a stereotype. This is an absolute disgrace for both the RCMP and the judge in this case. I'm positive the judge had a bit more discretion than was used.

This guy had a hand in the death of two people. I'm sorry, but nothing warrants special treatment on the basis of ethnicity.

I'm 60 years old and an aboriginal. I have never killed anyone. Had I done so, I would not have tarred everyone with that same brush.

Actions have consequences and the law is the law. It applies to everyone, even the RCMP. The sooner these guys get reigned in and not be allowed to investigate themselves the better.

It's also time for judges to apply the law equally. This guy is a complete coward. Not only is he unwilling to accept responsibility for what he's done, he wants to blame it on someone else and the judge buys it.
