Richmond seniors got talent

The Editor,

I am not writing about the teenagers, but the seniors who put on a super show on Monday, June 4 at the opening of seniors week at Thompson Community Centre.

Singing, dancing and a wonderful band kept everyone entertained and a great afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Kudos to the organizers, community leaders, city staff and, of course, to the wonderful volunteers, which, without them, none of the events that happen in Richmond would be possible.

They worked from 8: 30 a.m. to set up all of the tables in bright blue and yellow tablecloths, with flowers as a centrepiece on each table. Then, when it was time for the food to be served, our MC organized the table rotation for speedy serving of the line ups. All hands on deck to get everyone served.

The scrumptious cake was served to us at our tables, which wasn't easy as it was a full house and not very much space between chairs and tables, but it was served quickly with a smile for everyone.

From the early beginnings of about 40 people to I think about 300 this year, they may have to hold next year's seniors week at the oval.

Thank you to all for giving a day of your time and energy to make the day such a resounding success.
