Dear Editor,

Re: "Letters: Au's decision to stay on Richmond city council sets 'dangerous precedent'"

Letter writer Jerome Dickey expresses the view that Coun. Chak Au, having won a seat in the federal election, should resign as city councillor.

It is suggested one person cannot do both jobs.

I do not see it that way. Holding both offices for a limited time is very constructive and will serve Richmond residents well.

There are several levels of government, but only one taxpayer.

MP-elect Au will serve that one taxpayer at two levels of government. Too often the levels of government do not know know what the others do.

Thank you, Coun. Au for bridging that gap, while saving us money. Good choice!
