The Garlic Festival is one of the feature attractions of The Sharing Farm. This year was no exception, with enthusiastic crowds enjoying the multitude of activities.
The Richmond Garlic Festival took place on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Terra Nova Rural Park. The event, hosted by The Sharing Farm Society for over a decade, was a celebration of the many forms and uses of garlic.
As in past years, this was a stimulating and educational day, with local farmers, community supportive nonprofits, creators and food vendors. The proceeds went to support the many excellent programs of The Sharing Farm.
This is an event for all ages and — as in past years — there was live music, special children’s activities as well as tours of the farm and birds-of-prey flying demonstrations.
A dedicated, friendly group of volunteers helped to make everything flow smoothly.
The food focus was naturally on garlic, with booths offering garlic in various forms for sale, including delicious meal preparations — and garlic ice cream!
Excellent fresh garlic and farm fresh vegetables were also available for sale.
Check out the photos of the foods to whet your appetite for next year.
The Sharing Farm is an active supporter of the Richmond Food Bank and other partners — donating more than 20,000 pounds of produce in 2024!
During the growing season, the farm sells its vegetables and flowers several days a week to raise money for its projects and charitable work— check their website for days and times.
