Re: "Destination Steveston (insert)," Community, March 23.
I would like to thank the newspaper for this recent insert as that will be the only way I will be visiting Steveston if the City of Richmond goes ahead with the paid parking there - also known as, new cash grab.
I have not been made aware of any public input for this new strategy. I hope that the city councillors remember who keeps the village going in the winter when all of the tourists have headed home. What on earth makes the councillors think that the taxpayers of Richmond want to head to Steveston to spend money, not only at the restaurants and shops, but on parking?
I hope this is a strategy that is rethought and some common sense will prevail.
