I appreciate our efforts more now in attempting to be green - from the Green Can to recycling bins everywhere in Richmond. I have realized how much recycling we do here when I go down to the States.
There, I run around trying to hunt down a recycling bin, and they are nowhere to be seen. I hold my empty pop can like an idiot, just so I can do the right thing.
Yet, when I peer into the garbage cans, I see a pile of carelessly discarded soda cans.
After having had the recycling message drilled into me, now it feels like a crime against nature to not put a container where it belongs.
Or maybe this is just those return-it commercials getting into my head and making me feel karma is going to get me.
