RCMP bar tab left for public

The Editor, I see the RCMP are now demanding that taxpayers build them a 100-seat bar at the new facility in Surrey so they can serve alcohol to their members.

The Editor,

I see the RCMP are now demanding that taxpayers build them a 100-seat bar at the new facility in Surrey so they can serve alcohol to their members.

Considering all the recent problems with alcoholism in the RCMP and the behaviour of infamous officers like Monty Robinson, is it such a wise idea? I'm sure "coerce-a-colleague" night on Fridays will be popular, but how is any of this helping in regaining the public's trust or confidence?

I assume all the officers who drink there will be taking a taxi or public transit home?

In my opinion, there is no room for alcohol in the workplace under any circumstance. Perhaps, as a compromise, we could set up a permanent counter attack road block outside the headquarters to reassure the public?

I personally think this whole idea is outrageous. Maybe while we're at it, we can built them an adult video store? The RCMP view the public's opinion as something to be ignored. I guess we are simply here to pick up the tab no matter the cost, monetary or otherwise.
