The Editor,

Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS) has been serving this community since 1989.

This non-profit organization does a great job in reaching out to the citizens of Richmond.

Though its mandate is to serve mainly the Chinese-Canadian community, it has a commendable record in working with the community at large as well. RCCS makes every effort in participating in the broader community events for the betterment of Richmond.

Its programs and services are an excellent vehicle in promoting cultural inclusiveness. Take, for example, its annual lunch program for seniors.

This event brings together people of diverse backgrounds under the same roof in a very pleasant environment.

This year's lunch for seniors, held at Continental Seafood Restaurant on Saturday, Aug. 13, was its ninth.

Like previous years, the food was excellent. So was the entertainment. In addition to that, each guest received a green bag full of goodies.

For this, RCCS, along with its sponsors, River Rock Casino Resort, Shaghnessy Lions Club and the National Bank, deserve a vote of thanks.

Multicultural events like these go a long way in promoting intercultural harmony in our community.
