Richmond - The Editor, I cannot understand why this Bandaid solution to congestion at the Steveston Highway off ramp is being contemplated at all, especially at the cost to the taxpayers of $1.2 million.And to say it is a temporary fix until the replacement of the Massey Tunnel is even more perplexing.All that will happen with this new lane is that a bigger parking lot will be created. The traffic will still need to merge to make the left turn onto Steveston Highway.If you are really serious about alleviating congestion at the exit, then allow right turns as you exit the Massey Tunnel just before where the Tourism Info Station was situated, thus directing traffic onto Rice Mill Road.This will also alleviate congestion at Steveston Highway and No. 5 Road intersection.Brian BarnesRichmond
