Noise bylaw noising me up

To Ray Arnold - I feel your pain. My husband and I went through construction hell a year ago - and a nightmare it was. We had six homes torn down and under construction all around us within the year.

I wrote continually to the City of Richmond bylaw enforcement to please have the noise bylaw changed.

It would have been nice (and considerate) to at least have the stat holidays free of hammering, sawing, yelling - but they could care less. One thing I learned throughout that experience is that the City of Richmond does not care about how you or I feel about our neighbourhood.

A sense of community is far down the list of priorities for Mayor Brodie and his cohorts.

Despite the hype you may read in the papers about Brodie caring about Richmond neighbourhoods - trust me, that is not the case. Richmond has become a broken city and there's no going back now - it is what it is. And, yes, we also had them working on Christmas Eve night - pathetic, really.
