No computer means no ferry schedules

The Editor,

Very few people are aware the BC Ferry Corporation has decided to completely eliminate printing ferry schedules.

I had read about it in the middle of a newspaper article.

At a time when there has been such an uproar about Hahn's salary/retirement package, making this decision just to save a few thousand dollars in insulting.

When I called the minister in charge of the ferries, the receptionist hadn't heard about it.

When I called the Ferry Corp., the person of course defended the decision with the same reason you hear too often these days: that people can download them, assuming everyone has/can afford a computer/internet/printer, which definitely isn't the case.

When I called my MLA's office, she hadn't heard about it either and wondered why she couldn't find a schedule on the ferry last week.

When we spoke to ferry staff about it, they said they've had a lot of complaints from travelers, but nothing has changed.
