Open letter to mayor and council,

Recently, council endorsed a proposal for an Olympic Museum at the oval, another example of how this council has lost touch with the community.

Why do we need a $10 million dollar project that celebrates events that occurred only two years ago?

I don't remember having a chance to vote on this proposal as a taxpayer of Richmond.

What I do think we need is a sport museum for all community sport and the Olympics in Richmond so that we can recognize how Olympians are developed and the history of sport is not lost.

Community sport is where the local hockey, soccer, swimming, grass hockey, karate, judo, etc. clubs contribute to the development of elite athletes.

Council, I also understand that a previous mayor of Richmond was heavily involved in community sport for many years - Gil Blair.

In closing, please reconsider your previous decision so that this community can have a local museum for community sport.
