I regularly drive by the old Steveston secondary school on No. 2 Road and wonder why on Earth that valuable real estate is still sitting vacant.
Our community centres, health care facilities, etc., are bursting at the seams, and could make great use of the existing school buildings and grounds.
For example, the Garrett Wellness Centre could teach nutrition and cooking classes in the school kitchens, and the track and fields would be ideal for walking and exercise programs.
What are the plans for this area and when can we hope to see some muchneeded action on the behalf of the city?
