I must agree with the rationale behind the letter by Ken McLennan decrying the establishment of an Olympic Sport Museum at the Richmond Oval.
As a recognized sport historian/philosopher, I have written extensively on the whole subject of competitive sport at all educational and societal levels.
During the course of an 80-year involvement either as an athlete, student, professor or published scholar, I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the entire "competitive sport picture" has "gotten completely out of hand."
If Richmond were to consider a museum of any sort, why would it not make good sense to recognize Richmond citizens and/or their offspring who have made truly significant contributions to all aspects of life and living?
In addition to sportsmen and sportswomen, people could be included from Richmond who have made outstanding contributions in art, music, poetry and related cultural areas.
