Make handrails mandatory

Richmond - The Editor, I thoroughly enjoyed The Metropolitan Opera's HD Live production of Eugene Onegin at SilverCity. We are so lucky to have access to these special events at SilverCity in Richmond! The theatre was full, and I suspect that everyone there was mightily impressed with the close to four hours of entertainment. What added to the enjoyment of the event for me was how helpful the SilverCity staff were. However, I did notice that for many "opera-goers" it was a challenge to go up anddown the stairs in the theatre because there is no handrail. (I've noticed the same situation at Gateway.) Perhaps it's time all public facilities with stairs be mandated to include handrails. The 70-plus crowd loves to get out and enjoy themselves as much as those who are younger, and it is easier for them to do so if they know that stairs aren't a potential hazard to their safety. Thanks to SilverCity staff for an excellent time!Janet OakesRichmond
