Re: "City reveals $4.5M surplus," News, June 6. Just a response to your story on city surplus article. Although a lot of the projects to receive funding from the surplus are worthwhile, it would seem more appropriate to put that surplus towards next year's expenditures, so we avoid the usual annual increase in property and other taxes.
Just because we have a surplus does not mean we immediately have to spend it. We should be looking ahead instead.
