About defusing anger and hostility between persons, Danielle Aldcorn is right.
Surely the same approach must be used to deal with the Occupy Vancouver people. It starts by listening not by sending in the police.
In addition, it would help to ban the media. In such confrontations the media only distorts and amplifies.
The European debt crisis is another case in point. Much of it is media frenzy! Remember the SARS crisis? In the end it was a storm in a tea kettle.
