Letters: Let's learn from Richmond's kids

Richmond Schools Stand United’s Kim Nowitsky is calling for the government to move ahead with seismic mitigation work on local schools that require the upgrades.

Dear Editor,

I am neither an educator, parent or student. I am a frustrated and disappointed grandparent who is disillusioned to read, as the months drag on, that the brightest minds in this province are unable to solve the problem of how to educate our young people in a safe environment.

I witnessed groups of children in daycare settings and day camps coming together this summer in social learning groups. Have there been any COVID health concerns reported in these learning environments? If so, I have not heard of any.

I was playing with some small children yesterday who were engrossed in building a bridge across a stream. One of the little boys looked up and said, “Why can’t we just have school outside?”

Maybe the children will lead us!
