Dear Editor,

Re: “City threatens hefty fines for littering,” News, April 16.

It was reported on April 16 the City of Richmond is threatening to fine those caught littering masks, gloves and sanitary wipes.

Excellent plan. While on the subject of public hygiene, perhaps, if city council ever does get round to carrying out their threat, they might, at the same time, tackle the disgusting problem of people spitting in the streets.

An education campaign, similar to the one admonishing us to wash our hands, is long overdue.
