Letter: Weeds go wild in Hamilton

Dear Editor,

I have lived in the Hamilton area for the past 27 years.

Every year I have to phone the city multiple times about the weeds growing seven feet tall and higher along our community path before anyone comes to cut them down. One year I even had to contact Coun. Bill McNulty due to the lack of response from city staff.

This year I have called four times. Still, no one from the city has bothered to return my calls, nor have the weeds been cut down. The weeds are a fire hazard and carry allergens which are harmful to many people, including myself.

I have lived in Richmond for more than 45 years, and NEVER experienced such a blatant lack of services when I lived on Richmond’s west side.

The city intends to raise our taxes by more than 25 per cent in the next five years. Despite all these increases, the level of services seems to decline every year.

It is totally unacceptable.
