Dear Editor,

Re: “Same story, different year,” Editor’s column, Aug. 1

I share your frustration with the Christy Mahy case. Motor vehicle collisions are very complicated investigations.

They are, in fact, the most complicated police investigations.

The RCMP in B.C. are arguably the best fatal collision investigators in the world. Unfortunately, these investigations take time and Crown counsel does not like to recommend charges before the collision analysts report is complete.

As for the possibility of a vehicle defect, rest assured that the RCMP report will cover that issue completely.

This is not an isolated case.

About 250 people die on Canadian roads every month, it is high time to take this seriously.
