A homeless man in Richmond finds refuge in a backyard.

Dear Editor,

As a volunteer with St. Alban’s Outreach and Advocacy, I would like to send out a massive thank you to the individuals and companies of Richmond who give back to this community. I dare not name each one for fear of missing or offending anyone of you but please post this in your staff room, if this applies to you.

I see so many many residents of this community that rely on the nutritious meals provided by St. Alban’s, one way or another.  The Community Meal feeds more than 170 hungry folks every week; the Saturday Morning Shower provides a hot shower, toiletries and breakfast to about 30 people every week.  The Friday Lunch Program has never missed providing a Friday lunch, since its inception two years ago for at least 30 people each week. Two weeks ago it celebrated its second birthday and last week it served its 3,000th lunch.

To the silent troopers of Richmond, take a silent bow — you and I know who you are!
