Letter: Richmond's homeless need all our help right now

Dear Editor,

I recently came across a homeless girl near the entrance of Walmart. When I gave her some food and $10, I could see tears in her eyes.

She appeared to be malnourished and perhaps sick. We should put aside our differences and do something for this needy girl or I fear that something tragic is going to happen.

Perhaps the city can charge a few dollars extra per household from property tax to accumulate some fund for the needy.

If the housing market is to blame for these homeless, then the government should take more drastic measures to tackle the reckless speculation.

Why can’t the government take care of its own citizens, rather than spend money on refugees?

It’s a matter of life or death and some homeless people desperately need our attention and help now.
