Letter: Richmond music scene better than getting burnt in North Vancouver

Steveston’s World of Music and Arts founder, Anna Vavilova, is to get a lifetime achievement award.

Dear Editor,

Re: “You Can’t Stop the Music — except in Richmond, apparently,” Letters, March 29.

To Donald Grant: I invite you to watch this newspaper for the usual information on the annual evening music series that takes place once or twice a week at the cultural centre, by the fountain.

A much nicer experience than going to get sunburned at Lonsdale Quay at their free summer concerts, in my opinion.

I heard from the architect the city hired, that he was asked to look at the possibility to connect the old aquatic centre with the old seniors’ centre, to create community space (a la Caring Place?).

The latest I’ve heard through the grapevine is that the intent is to provide spaces for arts programs. I see music as one of the arts.

Maybe Mr. Grant could share his 25 years of music experience to help pull up a new generation of Richmond-based music makers?
