Letter: More than Chinese to be remembered in Richmond

Dear Editor, I read with interest the recent news about a Chinese lawyer wanting to run for mayor. She claimed the Chinese are being discriminated against. Balderdash! I took a recent walk in Steveston and noticed there was only a Chinese bunkhouse.

Dear Editor,

I read with interest the recent news about a Chinese lawyer wanting to run for mayor.

She claimed the Chinese are being discriminated against. Balderdash! I took a recent walk in Steveston and noticed there was only a Chinese bunkhouse.

Where were the bunkhouses commemorating other nationalities and races that fished in the Fraser River?

We had many Japanese, Indigenous and other immigrants working the river and we should also be proud of them, too.

Their bunkhouses should all have been saved so we could celebrate all of Richmond’s diversity, not just the Chinese.
