Dear Editor,

I was delighted to read that Time magazine featured The Guardians, fierce and courageous journalists.

I know freedom of the press starts at our local level. This is why I am reaching out to say thank you.

Thanks to all of the incredible journalists who risk their lives for justice. Now more than ever we need you.

I am so grateful and really appreciate your dedication and determination to seek the truth.

Journalism exposes injustices, gives voices to the powerless, changes minds, creates a call to action, and creates dialogue and community.

Where would we be without journalism? How would we feel connected to others in the world when we do not know their story?

I can read an article, I can be moved to tears or enraged. I can then decide how to convey what I have learned. I may feel so compelled to act by writing a letter or going to a protest.

Journalists are regularly attacked and often not praised for what they have to do to uncover a story.

I am writing to thank you for all that you do to share information, provide news that makes a difference in all of our daily lives.

You connect Richmond together and unite what it is to be connected in humanity.
